Extension has a history of working with the agricultural community that reaches back to its beginnings in 1914. In the early days, we guided farmers through the transition from horse-drawn equipment to tractors. Today's programs have expanded to include food safety concerns, containment of noxious weeds, resolution of public-land disputes and testing of alternative crops.

Grow Your Own, Nevada! is a state-wide University of Nevada Cooperative Extension (UNCE) program designed to help people all around the state discover the secrets to gardening in our high-desert climate through eight classes, delivered weekly in the fall, spring and summer.

The Great Basin Community Food Coop has started a new entity DROPP, to offer marketing, storage, and distribution of local products. GBCFC is a cooperative business organization serving the needs of our producers, our members, and our local businesses.

Great Basin Community Food Co-Op. Our purpose is to promote our local food system* and to serve as a sustainable cooperative model for access to wholesome food.

*What is a food system?

A food system includes all processes and infrastructure involved in feeding a population: growing, harvesting, processing, packaging, transporting, marketing, consumption, and disposal of food and food-related items.
